Fortune Top 10 Indian Companies – 2011 [Startup Inspiration] |

Fortune, as we all know is a Global Business Magazine published by Time Inc. They publish an annual list called Global Fortune 500 which is a ranking system for the top 500 corporations worldwide as measured by their gross revenue. We at HungryNfoolish aims at covering Startups. So for motivating our startup friends, we are hereby publishing the list of Top 10 Indian Companies in the Fortune list.

  1. Indian Oil Corporation :IndianOil operates the largest and the widest network of fuel stations in the country. They are one of the most preferred company in our Country.
  2. Reliance Industries : Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is an conglomerate company led by Mr. Mukesh Ambani. The company has three sub-segments : petrochemicals, refining, and oil and gas.
  3. Bharat Petroleum : Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is a state-controlled oil and gas company headquartered in Mumbai, India.
  4. State Bank of India : State Bank of India is the largest banking and financial services company in India by revenue, assets and market capitalization. It is a state-owned corporation with its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  5. Hindustan Petroleum : Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), is an Indian state-owned oil company. HPCL also owns and operates the largest Lube Refinery in India producing Lube Base Oils of international standards.
  6. Tata Motors : Tata Motors Limited is an Indian multinational automotive corporation headquartered in Mumbai, India. It is the eighteenth largest motor vehicle manufacturing company in the world by volume.
  7. Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) : Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC)  is an Indian state-owned oil. It is one of the largest Asia-based oil and gas exploration and production companies, and produces around 77% of India’s total crude oil production.
  8. Tata Steel :Tata Steel Limited  is a multinational steel company and subsidiary of Tata Group. It is the tenth-largest steel producing company in the world.
  9. Hindalco Industries (Aditya Birla Group) : Hindalco Industries Ltd. is one of the world’s largest Aluminum manufacturing company and is a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group.It is run by one of the world’s youngest billionaires, Mr. K.M. Birla.
  10. Coal India : Coal India Limited (CIL) is an Indian state-controlled coal mining company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India and the world’s largest coal miner.

It is clearly visible that most of the companies in the list are the Public Sector Industries. But the day is not far away that we will have many more from Private Sector coming out with flying colors.
